Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field is the home football stadium of the Mississippi State Bulldogs in Starkville, Mississippi. It is one of the oldest continuously used stadiums in major college football, predating most of the sport's modern venues by a century. Game days are defined by the constant clanging of cowbells, a Mississippi State tradition so central to the atmosphere that the SEC has had to formally regulate it. The mix of an old-school setting with modern expansions gives it a character distinct from most SEC stadiums.
The stadium dates to 1914, when it opened as New Athletic Field, making it the second-oldest stadium in the FBS behind Georgia Tech's Bobby Dodd Stadium. It was renamed Scott Field in 1920 for Olympic sprinter and Aggie football player Don Magruder Scott, and became Davis Wade Stadium at Scott Field in 2000 following a major expansion funded by donor Floyd Davis Wade. Over more than a century it has grown from a modest field into a 60,000-plus-seat SEC venue while keeping its cowbell tradition intact. That blend of age and tradition makes it one of the sport's most distinctive settings.
