Milan Puskar Stadium, home of West Virginia Mountaineers football, sits at Mountaineer Field in Morgantown, West Virginia. It is one of the largest stadiums in the Big 12 and one of the loudest environments in college football on a big Saturday. The bowl-shaped design packs fans close to the field, and the pregame and third-quarter traditions turn the whole stadium into a single, swaying chorus.
Opened in 1980, the stadium is renowned for its electric atmosphere, including the tradition of fans singing John Denver's 'Country Roads' together during the third quarter. Denver himself performed the song live at the stadium's September 6, 1980 dedication ceremony, landing by helicopter, singing, and departing the same way — a moment that cemented the song's place in Mountaineer lore. The facility is named for Milan Puskar, the Mylan Pharmaceuticals founder whose $20 million gift helped fund it.
