Baxter Arena is a multipurpose arena on the University of Nebraska Omaha campus, home to Omaha Mavericks men's and women's basketball as well as the school's Division I hockey program. Its dual-sport design lets the ice stay in place under a basketball floor configuration, a rarity among college arenas. The building gives UNO's Summit League basketball teams and NCHC-caliber hockey program a shared, modern on-campus stage. Crowds skew passionate, especially for hockey, which draws some of the school's biggest and loudest gatherings.
Opened in 2015, Baxter Arena replaced off-campus venues for both basketball and hockey, giving UNO its first true on-campus home for either sport. The hockey configuration seats roughly 7,900, reflecting the program's status as one of the anchor tenants alongside Mavericks basketball. Its opening was a milestone in UNO athletics' broader move to Division I and helped consolidate the school's two highest-profile programs under one roof. It continues to host Summit League and NCHC matchups each season.
