Needed to take a bit to father my thoughts before I started to rate stadiums because this was ALWAYS going to be the first one I rated. Genuinely, words cannot express how much I love this professional sports venue. It does not have the best amenities, the modern touches, or the advanced network of a new stadium, but what it lacks in that it fills with its old school charm. You don’t come here as a casual fan and have a good time. You come here a DEDICATED sports fan, ready to watch your team AND YOUR TEAM ONLY, no fancy gimmicks, just sports purism. That is what the coliseum is about. And that’s why I love it, because all I need is a brat from the stand outside section 210, a seat, and a desire to watch sports. Although this will not be the last venue I catch a game out of, it was always my first, and will always be near and dear to my heart, as I know it is in SO MANY fellow oaklanders. The drummers will be the heartbeat of Oakland forever, and the spirit of the Roots lives on. #FJF!
