The Steinberg Wellness Center is a multi-purpose arena in Brooklyn, New York, and the home of the Long Island University (LIU) Sharks basketball teams. It seats roughly 2,500 fans in a compact, urban campus building that also houses an NCAA regulation pool, fitness center, and rooftop tennis courts and track. Tucked into downtown Brooklyn, it gives LIU basketball an intimate, close-to-the-action home floor. The building doubles as a general wellness and recreation hub for the university community.
Opened in January 2006 as part of a roughly $45 million, 114,000-square-foot facility, the arena serves as LIU's primary home venue in the heart of Brooklyn. It hosts the Sharks' Northeast Conference basketball programs, formed after LIU merged its Brooklyn and LIU Post athletic programs under the single LIU Sharks brand. Beyond basketball, it supports several other varsity sports and campus wellness programming. Nearly two decades in, it remains a rare full-service athletic facility in dense downtown Brooklyn.
