The Jack Breslin Student Events Center is the home arena of the Michigan State Spartans men's and women's basketball teams in East Lansing. It is among the most respected home-court environments in the Big Ten, seating roughly 14,750-14,800 fans and doubling as mid-Michigan's primary venue for concerts, commencements, and other large events. The building also serves the region well beyond athletics, hosting everything from the Michigan Bar Exam to touring circuses. On basketball nights, though, it is unmistakably Spartans territory.
The Breslin Center opened in 1989, named for MSU alumnus and administrator Jack Breslin, who had pushed for the facility since 1969 but passed away in 1988, just before its dedication. It replaced Jenison Fieldhouse, which had served as the Spartans' home since 1940. Under longtime coach Tom Izzo, the Breslin Center became one of college basketball's toughest venues, with the 'Izzone' student section packing the lower bowl and MSU racking up lengthy home winning streaks. A $50 million renovation completed in 2017 modernized the concourses and added the Tom Izzo Basketball Hall of History inside the building.
