Brigham Field at Huskie Stadium is the football home of Northern Illinois University's Huskies in DeKalb, Illinois, competing in the Mid-American Conference. The stadium seats roughly 23,500 fans and hosts NIU's FBS football program on Saturdays each fall. Its open bowl and modest size give it a classic MAC-conference, campus-football feel rather than the scale of a Power Conference stadium. Tailgating and student sections around the stadium give it a homey, community-driven game-day atmosphere.
Huskie Stadium opened in 1965, replacing the smaller Glidden Field after NIU's 1963 small-college national championship season under quarterback George Bork. The playing surface was rededicated as Brigham Field in 2003 in honor of Robert J. Brigham, a longtime NIU athlete, coach, and athletic director who spent 50 years with the program. Seating capacity has fluctuated over the decades, from its original configuration up to roughly 31,000 with temporary end-zone bleachers in the 1990s before settling near its current size. The stadium has hosted NIU football as the program built a reputation as one of the MAC's most consistent contenders.
