Tulane Green Wave

Tulane basketball endured a dramatic setback in the mid-1980s when a point-shaving scandal shut the program down for four years, making its comeback in 1989 all the more meaningful. The Green Wave's brief run of NCAA Tournament appearances in the early 1990s remains a highlight for a fanbase that shares the city's passion with football and the Sugar Bowl scene. Tulane basketball dates back to 1905 and was shut down from 1985 to 1989 following a point-shaving scandal. Under coach Perry Clark, the Green Wave returned to relevance, earning the program's first NCAA Tournament bid in 1992 and defeating St. John's in the first round before falling to Oklahoma State. Tulane added two more NCAA Tournament appearances through 1995, marking the only NCAA bids in program history to date.
