History & Legacy
The University of St. Thomas was founded in 1885 in Saint Paul, Minnesota. For decades its men's basketball team was a Division III powerhouse in the MIAC, racking up conference titles and two trips to the NCAA DIII championship game under longtime coach Steve Fritz. St. Thomas jumped directly to Division I in the Summit League for the 2021-22 season and reached its first-ever Summit League title game in 2024-25, falling to Omaha.
