Cal Poly Mustangs basketball represents the Central Coast at the Division I level, playing home games at Mott Athletics Center in San Luis Obispo. A perennial scrapper in the Big West, the program is best known for one of the most improbable conference tournament runs in league history. The Mustangs bring a hard-nosed, overlooked-underdog energy to every game.
Cal Poly basketball traces back to 1907 and moved to full Division I status in 1994-95. After joining the Big West in 1996-97, the Mustangs became the first 7-seed ever to win the conference tournament in 2014, punching their first-ever NCAA Tournament ticket. That title remains the program's only Big West tournament championship, following near-misses in the 2003 and 2007 championship games.
