Albany Great Danes

The Albany Great Danes play home games at SEFCU Arena, representing the SUNY system's flagship men's basketball program. Albany built one of America East's most consistent tournament resumes in the 2000s and 2010s, becoming a fixture in March under longtime leadership. The Great Danes are known for disciplined, well-coached basketball that regularly punches above the program's mid-major profile. Albany remains one of the most successful programs to come out of the America East Conference in recent decades.

Albany basketball began in 1909 and moved to Division I in 1999, joining the America East Conference in 2001. In 2006, the Great Danes won their first America East tournament title, earning the SUNY system's first-ever NCAA Tournament bid, and returned to the NCAA Tournament in 2007, 2013, 2014, and 2015, picking up the program's first NCAA Tournament win in 2014. Albany has captured six America East tournament championships (2006, 2007, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017) and three regular-season titles.
