    Overview

The UTEP Miners play at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, one of the most historically significant venues in college basketball. Under Joe Golding, the Miners aim to restore the program to its championship glory. UTEP's orange, blue, and white colors and borderland identity create a passionate following. The Haskins Center is named for the legendary coach who changed the sport forever.

    History & Legacy

UTEP, then known as Texas Western, won the 1966 national championship under Don Haskins, starting five Black players in the title game against Kentucky in what is considered one of the most important games in American sports history. The Miners have made 18 NCAA Tournament appearances. Tim Hardaway, Antonio Davis, and Nate Archibald are among the program's NBA alumni. The 1966 championship game inspired the film Glory Road.
