Vermont Catamounts

The Vermont Catamounts play home games at Patrick Gymnasium in Burlington, and stand as the most decorated program in America East Conference history. Vermont is best known nationally for its stunning 2005 NCAA Tournament upset of Syracuse, a signature moment that put the small New England program on the map. Under longtime coaches Tom Brennan and John Becker, the Catamounts have built a culture of consistent winning rarely seen at this level. Vermont remains America East's gold standard year after year.

Vermont basketball traces back to the early 1900s and has grown into the America East Conference's most successful program, with 15 regular-season conference championships. The Catamounts' signature win came in 2005, when 13-seed Vermont upset 4-seed Syracuse in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Vermont has reached the NCAA Tournament ten times overall, most recently in 2024, building sustained success across multiple coaching eras led by Tom Brennan and John Becker.
