The Cornell Big Red play at Newman Arena in Ithaca, New York, and are responsible for one of the great Cinderella runs in modern Ivy League basketball. Tucked into the Finger Lakes region, Cornell built a brief but unforgettable run of dominance that put the Ivy League on the national radar. The Big Red's identity is built on precision, shooting, and a system that maximized every roster advantage. Cornell remains one of the league's proudest recent success stories.
Under coach Steve Donahue, Cornell won three straight Ivy League championships from 2008 to 2010. The 2009-10 team went 29-5, the most wins in Ivy League history, and became just the fourth Ivy team to reach the Sweet Sixteen, upsetting Temple and Wisconsin before falling to eventual runner-up Kentucky. Stars Ryan Wittman, Jeff Foote, and Louis Dale anchored that historic run. Cornell's 2010 Sweet Sixteen appearance remains the standard against which the program measures every season since.
