Dartmouth has one of the most successful early histories in college basketball, reaching the NCAA championship game twice, finishing as national runner-up to Stanford in 1942 and losing to Utah in the 1944 final. The Big Green have won 12 Ivy League regular-season championships, including back-to-back titles in 1957-58 and 1958-59. Dartmouth has made seven NCAA Tournament appearances overall, but has not earned a bid since the 1950s, now home to one of the longest active NCAA Tournament droughts in Division I.
