Siena Saints

The Siena Saints represent Siena College in Loudonville, New York, and play their home games at MVP Arena in downtown Albany, giving the program one of the best home-court atmospheres in the MAAC. Siena has carved out a reputation as a team capable of pulling off NCAA Tournament upsets against major-conference opponents, and its downtown arena regularly draws some of the loudest crowds in mid-major basketball. The Saints are a perennial contender in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with a passion base stretching across the Capital Region.

Siena College was founded in 1937 and has been playing MAAC basketball since the conference's early years. The Saints are best remembered for a string of NCAA Tournament upsets: knocking off Stanford in 1989, Alcorn State in 2002, Vanderbilt in 2008, and Ohio State in double overtime in 2009. Siena has won seven MAAC Tournament championships (1989, 2002, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2020, 2026), tying for the second-most in league history. The program's late-2000s run under coach Fran McCaffery, featuring back-to-back-to-back NCAA appearances, remains its high-water mark.
