The Rider Broncs are the men's basketball program of Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, playing home games at Alumni Gymnasium. Rider has been a steady, well-run MAAC program since joining the conference in the late 1990s, known for competitive regular seasons even without a MAAC Tournament title to its name. The Broncs draw on a long athletic tradition dating back nearly a century, with basketball as one of the school's flagship sports.
Rider University was founded in 1865, and its basketball program traces back to the 1928-29 season under coach Clair Bee. The Broncs moved through the East Coast Conference and Northeast Conference before joining the MAAC in 1997, where they have won regular-season titles but have not yet captured a MAAC Tournament crown, twice falling in the championship game (2005 and 2008). Rider has made three NCAA Tournament appearances, most recently in 1994.
