UMBC Retrievers

The UMBC Retrievers play at the Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena in Baltimore, competing in the America East Conference. UMBC became one of the most famous programs in NCAA Tournament history with their 2018 upset. The Retrievers' black and gold colors and Baltimore location create a strong identity.

UMBC became the first 16-seed to defeat a 1-seed in the 2018 NCAA Tournament, stunning Virginia in one of the greatest upsets in sports history. The Retrievers' victory captivated the nation and put UMBC on the basketball map. The program has made two tournament appearances and continues to be a competitive America East program.
