The Robert Morris Colonials play their home games at the UPMC Events Center just outside Pittsburgh, representing a business-focused university named for the Revolutionary War financier. After decades as a fixture of the Northeast Conference, the Colonials moved to the Horizon League in 2020, bringing a program built on hard-nosed, competitive basketball into a new conference home. Robert Morris has developed a habit of making deep conference tournament runs, giving the Moon Township campus regular trips to the NCAA Tournament stage.
Robert Morris basketball began in 1963 and transitioned into NCAA Division I play in 1976, eventually settling into the Northeast Conference in 1989. The Colonials have made nine NCAA Tournament appearances, winning First Four and first-round games in 1983 and 2015, and have claimed a dozen regular-season and ten conference tournament titles over the years. The program left the NEC for the Horizon League in 2020, continuing its tradition of consistent postseason contention in its new league.
