Citadel Bulldogs

The Citadel Bulldogs bring military discipline and Charleston tradition to the hardwood, playing out of historic McAlister Field House on the campus of The Military College of South Carolina. As a program built on structure and grit rather than blue-chip recruiting, The Citadel has long been one of the Southern Conference's toughest outs for a team with modest name recognition. The Bulldogs' identity is inseparable from the Corps of Cadets that fills the stands, giving home games a distinctly different atmosphere than almost anywhere else in college basketball.

Basketball at The Citadel dates back to the 1900-01 season, with continuous play since 1912-13. The Bulldogs won the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association tournament in 1927, their only conference title to date, and have never reached the NCAA Tournament. Their deepest Southern Conference tournament run came in a 1959 finals appearance, and the 2008-09 squad's 20-win season and postseason bid remain among the program's modern high points.
