The IU Indy Jaguars are the men's basketball program of Indiana University Indianapolis, playing their home games at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum on the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Known for most of their history as IUPUI, the program adopted its current identity in 2024 after Indiana University and Purdue University split their long-standing Indianapolis partnership. The Jaguars now compete in the Horizon League, bringing downtown Indianapolis energy to a program still building its national profile.
Basketball at the Indianapolis campus began in 1972 under the IUPUI Metros name, moving through the NAIA and NCAA Division II before reaching Division I for the 1998-99 season. The program's signature achievement came in 2003, when the Jaguars won the Mid-Continent Conference tournament to reach the NCAA Tournament for the only time in school history, falling to Kentucky in the first round. The university's 2024 split created Indiana University Indianapolis (IU Indy), under which the athletics program now continues its Horizon League era.
