The Little Rock Trojans are the men's basketball program of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, playing home games at the Jack Stephens Center. Little Rock has carved out a reputation as a program capable of high-profile March upsets despite its modest mid-major profile, and the Trojans have long been one of the more competitive small programs in the state of Arkansas. The team now competes in the Ohio Valley Conference after decades split between the Trans America Athletic Conference and the Sun Belt.
The university traces its roots to 1927 as Little Rock Junior College, with a basketball team dating to that era, and the program elevated to Division I independence in 1978-79 before joining the Trans America Athletic Conference. Little Rock has reached the NCAA Tournament five times (1986, 1989, 1990, 2011, 2016), most memorably in 1986 when the 14th-seeded Trojans upset 3-seed Notre Dame, the first-ever 14-over-3 upset in tournament history. The Trojans returned to the Big Dance in 2016 as a 12 seed, again pulling an upset over 5-seed Purdue.
