Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns

The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns are the men's basketball program of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, playing home games in the massive Cajundome, one of the largest and loudest venues in the Sun Belt Conference. Louisiana basketball has a long, colorful history of March surprises and passionate Acadiana support, and the Ragin' Cajuns remain one of the Sun Belt's most tradition-rich programs. The team's identity blends Louisiana flair with a scrappy, hard-nosed style built for conference-tournament runs.

The university was founded in 1898 as the Southwestern Louisiana Industrial Institute, and its basketball program famously reached the Sweet Sixteen in both 1972 and 1973 in its first two years of Division I eligibility, though both appearances were later vacated due to NCAA infractions. The program has also had 2004 and 2005 NCAA Tournament trips vacated for rules violations, complicating an otherwise storied postseason history. Louisiana won the Sun Belt tournament championship in 2023, finishing 26-8 and earning a No. 2 NCAA Tournament seed before falling to Tennessee in the first round.
