The Pacific Tigers play in the Alex G. Spanos Center in Stockton, California, one of the West Coast Conference's founding programs. Pacific has a long, steady basketball history in California's Central Valley, marked by periods of real national relevance. The Tigers bring an old-school identity to a conference now dominated by Gonzaga and Saint Mary's.
Pacific basketball began in the 1910-11 season, and the program was a founding member of what became the West Coast Conference back in 1952. Its deepest NCAA Tournament run came in 1966-67, when the Tigers went a perfect 14-0 in conference play and advanced to the Elite Eight before falling to eventual champion UCLA. Under longtime coach Bob Thomason, Pacific returned to the NCAA Tournament five times between 1997 and 2013. The program has captured 18 conference championships across its history, even as a national title has remained out of reach.
