Lipscomb Bisons

The Lipscomb Bisons bring faith-based Nashville basketball to the Atlantic Sun Conference, playing home games at Allen Arena on Lipscomb University's campus. The Bisons have built recent national attention through deep NIT runs and a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances, establishing themselves as one of the league's most persistent contenders. Lipscomb's 2019 run to the NIT championship game remains a signature moment for the program. It's a smaller Christian university with a scrappy, ambitious basketball culture.

Lipscomb fielded its first intercollegiate basketball team in 1931 and moved up to Division I in 2001. The program's biggest recent moment came in 2019, when the Bisons became the first Atlantic Sun team to reach the NIT championship game, upsetting Wichita State in the semifinals before falling to Texas in the final. Lipscomb has reached the NCAA Division I Tournament twice, in 2018 and 2025, though it remains winless in tournament play. The Bisons also won an NAIA national championship in 1986, a title from an earlier chapter of the program's history.
