The Creighton Bluejays bring a Jesuit university's blue-collar identity to the biggest stage in college basketball. Playing downtown at the CHI Health Center in front of some of the loudest, most devoted crowds in the sport, Creighton has become a fixture of Big East contention and a perennial NCAA Tournament threat. Behind sharpshooting, position-less lineups and a passionate Omaha fan base, the Bluejays punch well above the weight of their market size.
Creighton University opened in Omaha in 1878, and its basketball program has competed at the major-college level for more than a century. The Bluejays spent decades building a strong Missouri Valley identity before jumping to the Big East in 2013, instantly becoming a contender in one of the sport's toughest leagues. Under coach Greg McDermott, Creighton has reached multiple Sweet Sixteens and Elite Eights in the 2020s, powered by standout scorers like Doug McDermott and Ryan Kalkbrenner. The program has never won an NCAA championship but has built one of the sport's most respected mid-major-turned-power-conference resumes.
