Northern Colorado Bears

The Northern Colorado Bears play home games at the Bank of Colorado Arena in Greeley, representing a program that has steadily built its Division I basketball identity since joining the Big Sky Conference. The Bears' 2011 NCAA Tournament berth remains a landmark moment in the program's history as it continues competing for conference relevance.

The University of Northern Colorado was founded in 1889 as the State Normal School of Colorado, taking its current name in 1970. The basketball program began play in 1901 and transitioned to NCAA Division I in the mid-2000s, joining the Big Sky Conference in 2006. Northern Colorado made its first and only NCAA Tournament appearance in 2011. The Bears have not won an NCAA championship.
