UCF Knights

The UCF Knights play at Addition Financial Arena on the sprawling Orlando campus, representing one of the nation's largest universities by enrollment. Under head coach Johnny Dawkins, the Knights joined the Big 12 Conference in 2023, marking a remarkable rise for a program that competed in Division II until 1984. UCF benefits from its location in a major tourist and entertainment hub, with the program building a loyal following among Orlando's growing population. The Knights emphasize defensive intensity and have made multiple NCAA Tournament appearances in recent years. UCF's black and gold colors and Knight mascot create a distinctive identity in the Florida college sports landscape.

UCF basketball began in 1969 when the school was known as Florida Technological University, created to support the space industry. The program transitioned to Division I in 1984 and steadily climbed the conference ladder through the TAAC, Atlantic Sun, Conference USA, American Athletic Conference, and now the Big 12. Tacko Fall, the 7-foot-6 center, became a cult hero during UCF's 2019 NCAA Tournament run that included a near-upset of Duke. The Knights have produced NBA players like Tacko Fall and B.J. Taylor. UCF's rapid institutional growth mirrors its athletic ascent, with the university now exceeding 70,000 students across its campuses.
