Overview
The Merrimack Warriors are the men's basketball program of Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts, playing home games at Hammel Court. Since jumping to Division I in 2019 and settling into the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in 2024, the Warriors have built a reputation as a scrappy mid-major capable of knocking off bigger names.
History & Legacy
Merrimack College fielded its first basketball team in 1949 under founding coach Paul Lanni. The Warriors spent 35 years in the Northeast-10 Conference at the Division II level, winning conference titles in 1992 and 2000, before transitioning to Division I in 2019 and immediately winning the Northeast Conference tournament that same year. After three additional NEC regular-season titles under coach Joe Gallo, Merrimack joined the MAAC in 2024 and claimed its first MAAC regular-season championship in 2025-26, its best season in program history.
