Overview
The Liberty Flames represent Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, playing home games at Liberty Arena. One of the most successful mid-major programs of the last three decades, Liberty has built a reputation for winning conference titles wherever it lands — Big South, ASUN, and now Conference USA. The Flames bring a faith-driven, disciplined program culture and have become one of college basketball's most reliable multi-conference winners.
History & Legacy
Liberty won three Big South tournament titles (1994, 2004, 2013) before moving to the ASUN Conference in 2018, where the Flames won the ASUN tournament in each of their first three seasons (2019, 2020, 2021) — highlighted by a 2019 upset of Mississippi State for the program's first NCAA Tournament win. After shifting to Conference USA in 2023, Liberty capped a 28-7 2024-25 season by sweeping the CUSA regular-season and tournament titles, its first crowns in the new league and sixth overall NCAA Tournament appearance in program history.
