Maryland Terrapins

The Maryland Terrapins play their home games at the XFINITY Center in College Park, a program with genuine championship pedigree and a fiercely loyal fan base. Known for its red-and-black identity and physical, defense-first style under legendary coach Gary Williams, Maryland basketball built its national reputation in the early 2000s and has carried that swagger into its Big Ten era. The Terps consistently field competitive rosters and remain one of the mid-Atlantic's flagship basketball brands.

Maryland basketball's defining moment came in 2002, when Gary Williams led Juan Dixon, Steve Blake, and a gritty Terrapins squad to the program's first and only national championship, beating Indiana 64-52 in the title game. That title capped a run of ACC dominance in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Maryland left the ACC for the Big Ten in 2014, bringing its championship history into a new conference home while continuing to build on its winning tradition.
