UC Davis Aggies

The UC Davis Aggies bring a proud FCS pedigree to the Big Sky Conference, playing their home games at Aggie Stadium in the college town of Davis, California. Known for physical, run-first football and a rabid student following, the Aggies have long punched above their weight against bigger FBS programs on their non-conference slate. The program's identity is built on toughness and continuity, producing a steady stream of NFL talent from a school better known academically for agriculture and veterinary science. UC Davis fielded its first football team in 1915 and built a dominant small-college identity over the ensuing decades, winning 27 outright or shared Northern California Athletic Conference titles between 1929 and 1992, including 20 straight from 1971 to 1990. The Aggies moved up to Division I FCS in 2007 and joined the Big Sky Conference, where they've continued to contend, capturing a share of the 2018 Big Sky title and an outright conference championship in 2024 under head coach Tim Plough. The program has never won an FCS national title but has built a long history of consistent winning at the lower divisions.
