William & Mary Tribe

The William & Mary Tribe carries one of the oldest football traditions in the country, representing the second-oldest college in America on the FCS gridiron. Long a fixture of the Colonial Athletic Association, the Tribe blends historic pedigree with modern FCS competitiveness, regularly contending for conference titles and playoff berths. William & Mary's academic prestige and old-school college-town setting in Williamsburg, Virginia give its football program a distinct identity within the CAA. The Tribe is set to begin a new chapter as it moves to the Patriot League for football.

William & Mary fielded its first intercollegiate football team in 1893, giving the program more than 130 years of continuous history. The Tribe won Southern Conference titles in the 1940s through 1970s, Atlantic 10 titles in the 1990s and 2000s, and three Coastal Athletic Association championships (2010, 2015, 2022) after CAA realignment. While William & Mary has never claimed an FCS national title, it has remained a consistent conference contender and playoff participant across multiple league affiliations.
