Albany Great Danes

The Albany Great Danes play FCS football for the University at Albany, part of the State University of New York system. Competing in the Coastal Athletic Association, Albany has built a modest but persistent regional football program. It's a smaller-scale operation focused on developing talent within the CAA rather than chasing national headlines.

Albany's football program has grown gradually from a smaller-college outfit into full FCS competition, joining the CAA football conference in the 2020s after conference realignment among northeastern FCS schools. The Great Danes have not won a national title. The University at Albany itself dates to 1844, making it one of the older public universities in New York State.
