The UTSA Roadrunners are one of college football's newest success stories, playing home games in San Antonio's massive Alamodome. Launched in 2011 as a modern-day football startup, UTSA broke attendance records for a first-year program and quickly built a winning culture. The Roadrunners' back-to-back conference championships announced the program as one of the fastest-rising outfits in the Group of Five.
UTSA played its inaugural football season in 2011 under first head coach Larry Coker, setting a record for average home attendance by a new program. The Roadrunners moved to Conference USA and captured back-to-back league titles in 2021 and 2022, beating Western Kentucky and North Texas respectively in the conference championship games. UTSA joined the American Athletic Conference in 2023, continuing one of the sport's quickest builds from startup to contender.
