Maine Black Bears

The Maine Black Bears play home games at Morse Field at Harold Alfond Stadium in Orono, representing the state's flagship university in FCS football. Competing in the Coastal Athletic Association, Maine has built one of the more storied FCS programs in the Northeast, including a Division I-AA national championship game appearance in the early 1990s. It's a program with genuine New England pride behind it.

Maine football has deep roots and reached its high point in 1993, when the Black Bears advanced to the Division I-AA national championship game before falling to Youngstown State. The program has remained a consistent CAA contender in the decades since, without adding a national title. The University of Maine was established in 1865 as the state's land-grant institution.
