Northern Iowa Panthers

The Northern Iowa Panthers are one of the most consistently strong programs in the Missouri Valley Football Conference, playing home games in the iconic UNI-Dome. With 33 total conference championships - the most of any Iowa Division I football program - and 22 FCS playoff appearances, the Panthers have built one of the sport's steadiest FCS pedigrees despite never winning the national title. UNI's indoor home field gives it a unique competitive identity in college football.

Northern Iowa has fielded football since 1895, moving through the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and the North Central Conference before becoming a founding member of the Gateway Football Conference (now the MVFC) in 1985. The Panthers have amassed 33 conference championships across those eras, including 16 MVFC titles, and have reached the FCS playoffs 22 times - third-most all-time - though a national championship has eluded them.
