North Carolina Tar Heels

UNC has fielded football since 1888 and enjoyed some of its best stretches under coaches like Mack Brown, both in the late 1980s/1990s and again after his 2019 return. The Tar Heels have won numerous ACC and earlier Southern Conference titles but have never claimed a consensus national championship. UNC has built a reputation as a program capable of NFL-caliber talent, especially at running back and quarterback, even without a title banner to show for it.
