The Fresno State Bulldogs have long been one of the Mountain West's most successful programs, playing out of the Central Valley at Valley Children's Stadium. Behind a string of WAC and Mountain West championships since the early 1990s, Fresno State has built a reputation for producing NFL-caliber quarterbacks and pulling off signature upsets against Power Conference opponents. The 'Red Wave' home-crowd atmosphere has made Bulldog Stadium one of the loudest venues at the Group of Five level.
Fresno State fielded its first team in 1921 and won a conference championship in just its second season, 1922, as a charter member of the California Coast Conference. The Bulldogs later moved through the CCAA, Big West and WAC, capturing WAC titles in 1992, 1993 and 1999, before becoming a Mountain West charter-era power with championships in 2012, 2013, 2018 and 2022. In all, Fresno State has claimed 29 conference championships in program history.
