Nevada Wolf Pack

The Nevada Wolf Pack bring a fast, offense-forward identity to Mackay Stadium in Reno, a program that has built its national moments around explosive scoring rather than physical dominance. Silver and blue clad and unafraid to sling the ball around, Nevada has periodically punched above its weight in the Mountain West, most memorably during its Pistol-offense heyday. The Wolf Pack fan base has learned to expect shootouts, and the program's identity is inseparable from a run-and-gun approach that has occasionally produced Heisman-caliber performances.

Nevada's football program dates to 1896, when it was known as the Sagebrushers. The Wolf Pack have won 14 conference championships across four leagues — three in the Far West Conference during the 1930s, four in the Big Sky from 1983-91, five in the Big West from 1992-97, and two in the WAC in 2005 and 2010. The program's most celebrated modern stretch came under Chris Ault's pistol-offense teams in the late 2000s, which produced record-setting rushing numbers and future NFL talent like Colin Kaepernick.
