St. Francis (PA) Red Flash

The Saint Francis (PA) Red Flash represent a small Catholic university in Loretto, Pennsylvania, competing at the FCS level. Red and blue, the Red Flash have operated for decades as one of the Northeast Conference's steadier programs, prioritizing consistency and player development over national visibility. The program has recently begun a transition toward NCAA Division III, marking a new chapter for one of the region's longtime FCS names.

Saint Francis fielded its first football team in 1892 and moved up to Division I-AA (now FCS) in 1993, joining the Northeast Conference as a full member in 1996. The Red Flash won Northeast Conference titles in 2016 and 2022, the program's first two championships since entering Division I competition. Saint Francis has announced plans to move to NCAA Division III as part of the Presidents' Athletic Conference starting in 2026.
