Wofford Terriers

The Wofford Terriers are known throughout the Southern Conference for a punishing, run-first identity built around the triple option. Based in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Wofford has long punched above its enrollment size, using discipline and physicality to consistently compete for SoCon titles. The Terriers' old-school approach has made them a stylistic outlier and a tough out for anyone on the schedule.

Wofford fielded its first football team in 1889, taking part in South Carolina's first intercollegiate football game against Furman that same year. The Terriers moved up from Division II into the Southern Conference for the 1996-97 season and have since won seven SoCon championships. Their deepest postseason run came in 2003, when Wofford advanced to the FCS national semifinals before falling to Delaware. The program has made 10 FCS playoff appearances and remains a respected, if under-the-radar, conference power.
