Overview
The Citadel Bulldogs bring the discipline of a military college to the Southern Conference gridiron. Representing The Military College of South Carolina in Charleston, the Bulldogs are known for a tenacious, option-based running game and a culture built on structure and toughness. Playing in blue and white, The Citadel has spent generations building a reputation as a program that punches above its size against bigger FCS rosters.
History & Legacy
The Citadel was founded in 1842, with football arriving on campus in 1905. The Bulldogs have been members of the Southern Conference since 1936 and won SoCon championships in 1961 and 1992. In 1960, The Citadel capped a strong season with a 27-0 win over Tennessee Tech in the Tangerine Bowl. The program has never captured an FCS national title but has remained a steady, respected presence in the conference for nearly a century.
