The Northwestern State Demons represent Natchitoches, Louisiana in the Southland Conference, playing home games at Harry Turpin Stadium. With more than a century of football history, the Demons have built a long, if understated, tradition in Louisiana college football, wearing purple and white with pride through numerous conference eras.
Northwestern State fielded its first football team in 1907 and has competed in the Southland Conference since 1987 after stints in several earlier Louisiana-based leagues. The Demons have won 12 conference championships across their history and reached national prominence with a second-place NAIA finish in 1976 before transitioning to FCS in 1977. Northwestern State has made six FCS/I-AA playoff appearances, going 3-6 in that stretch.
