The Nicholls Colonels play their home games at John L. Guidry Stadium in Thibodaux, Louisiana, representing Nicholls State University in the Southland Conference. Known for scrappy, competitive football and a passionate bayou-region following, the Colonels have carved out a steady niche among the Southland's mid-tier contenders, wearing the program's signature red and gray.
History & Legacy
Nicholls fielded its first football team in 1972 and joined the Southland Conference in 1991, where it remains today. The Colonels have won four Southland championships, in 2005, 2018, 2019, and 2023, along with earlier titles at the Division II and I-AA levels in 1975 and 1984. Nicholls has made seven FCS/I-AA playoff appearances but has not won a national championship at any level.
