Lamar Cardinals

The Lamar Cardinals play out of Provost Umphrey Stadium in Beaumont, Texas, having returned to the Southland Conference after a program history full of stops and restarts. With red and white colors and a resilient program identity, Lamar has rebuilt itself into a competitive Southland member since football's 2010 revival, after a two-decade absence from the sport.

Lamar's football history dates to 1923 as South Park Junior College, with the program going through multiple stops and restarts, including a shutdown from 1990 until football was brought back in 2010. As a founding member of the Southland Conference, Lamar won the league's inaugural championship in 1964 and repeated in 1965, later sharing the 1966 title with UT Arlington. Lamar rejoined the Southland Conference in 2022 after a brief stint in the WAC, continuing its long, on-and-off Texas football tradition.
