Overview
The Alabama A&M Bulldogs bring SWAC football to Huntsville, Alabama, with a program built on a long, proud championship history dating back to its Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference days. Maroon and white colors have flown over multiple conference titles and one of the more complete undefeated seasons in recent HBCU football memory. The Bulldogs' rivalry with Alabama State's Turkey Day Classic is one of the oldest and most storied HBCU rivalries in the sport. A&M's football program remains a consistent SWAC East contender.
History & Legacy
Alabama A&M's football program began in 1912. The Bulldogs won twelve SIAC titles before the program moved to Division I FCS and joined the SWAC in 1999, adding SWAC championships in 2006 and 2020. The 2020-21 season stands out as the program's crowning achievement: a perfect 5-0 record and undefeated SWAC slate earned Alabama A&M a consensus Black college football national championship, its first unbeaten conference season since 1966.
