Virginia Tech Hokies

Virginia Tech football is defined by the electric entrance at Lane Stadium, where Metallica's "Enter Sandman" and a stadium full of stomping Hokies create one of the most intimidating atmospheres in college football. The program built its national reputation in the late 1990s and 2000s on stifling defense and special-teams dominance under longtime coach Frank Beamer. The Hokies carry a blue-collar, defense-first identity that has made Blacksburg one of the sport's toughest road trips. Hokie Nation's passion is a defining part of the program's brand.

Virginia Tech football dates to 1892 and reached its high point in 1999, finishing the regular season undefeated behind quarterback Michael Vick before falling to Florida State in the national championship game. Despite that near-miss, the Hokies have never won a national title, one of a small handful of Power Conference programs without one. The team has claimed 8 conference championships across the Southern Conference, Big East, and ACC eras. Virginia Tech joined the ACC in 2004.
