The Georgia State Panthers are one of the younger programs in FBS football, playing home games at Center Parc Stadium in the heart of Atlanta. Blue and red Panthers teams have grown steadily since fielding their first squad in 2010, building bowl-game credibility in the Sun Belt East. Georgia State's urban Atlanta campus gives the program a unique big-city recruiting base among Sun Belt schools. The Panthers continue working to establish themselves as consistent conference contenders.
Georgia State fielded its first football team in 2010 under inaugural head coach Bill Curry, moving from FCS independent status into the Colonial Athletic Association in 2012 before joining the Sun Belt Conference in 2013. The Panthers moved up to FBS in 2013 and have collected four bowl victories in six appearances through 2024, including the 2017 Cure Bowl. Georgia State has not yet won a Sun Belt football championship.
