Richmond Spiders

Richmond Spiders football is an FCS program in Virginia known for a stunning national title run in 2008. The Spiders play in one of the sport's most competitive FCS conferences and carry a proud program identity built on that championship pedigree. Richmond's black-and-red colors and Spiders mascot give the program a distinctive regional presence.

Richmond won the 2008 NCAA Division I FCS national championship, defeating Montana 24-7 behind first-year head coach Mike London — the first team national title in university history in any sport. The Spiders reached that title game by beating Eastern Kentucky, Appalachian State, and Northern Iowa in the playoffs. The program remains a longtime FCS mainstay.
